How to Boil an Egg

Eggs are generally food healthy to eat with proteins and vitamins. You can eat eggs raw, boiled or cooked in a pan as scrambled eggs or an omelet. Boiling eggs is one of the easiest ways to prepare them.

  • Place the fresh eggs gently in an empty pot.
  • Run cold water about 1 inch (3 cm) of water over them to prevent the shells will crack immediately. Place the pot on a stove and turn it on. Cook the eggs on medium heat; if boiling is too intense the eggs can jump and break.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
  • Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
  • Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.
